Enzymatic Pretreatment of Cellulosic Biomasses to Reducing Sugar for Bioethanol Production

Abstract

Biomass Composition and conversion into total reducing sugar effectively, with enzymatic hydrolysis pretreatment was studied on the biomass materials of sugarcane leaves, durian peel and pineapple crown. In downsizing the raw material by a woodchopper with a sieve size of 2 mm and reduced by 10 mm, findings of the research reveal that the highest content in the three raw materials as follows; the extractives of durian husk, the highest is 44.53% by dry weight and the lignin of peak and leaves of sugarcane, the highest is 61.29 % by dry weight, and holocellulose and alpha-cellulose of peak and leaves of sugarcane, the highest is 36.64 % by dry weight including moisture content of the pineapple crown for 13.34% by dry weight. In addition, it is found that the amount of free reducing sugar soluble in various raw materials are as follows; 30.81 ± 6.51 g/L for the pineapple crown, 15.77 ± 1.22 g/L for durian husk, and 2.01 ± 0.60 g/L for the tips and leaves of sugarcane. And for the amount of reducing sugar following raw material conditioning, it is found that Sugarcane leaves contain 49.0013 g/L, Pineapple crown contains 61.8732 g/L and Durian husk contains 56.8307 g/L. And findings reveal that the amount of reducing sugar in various raw materials over 24 hours are; sugarcane leaves contain concentrations of 92.382g / L, durian husk of 97.1901g / L, and pineapple crown of 112.0989g / L. The research could be used for optimized feedstock pretreatment to affect to the yield of  the fuel ethanol production.
