An Innovative Approach To The Prevention Of Hemorrhage From The Gallbladder Bed After Cholecystectomy

Abstract

Research objective: to improve treatment methods of patients with
cholelithiasis and its complications by developing and clinical assessing the method of
application hemostasis using the new local agent Hemosponge Powder.
Material and research methods. The research included the treatment results of 93
patients who underwent surgical intervention for acute cholecystitis. The control group
included 56 patients, who had a procedure of high-frequency electrocoagulation for the
gallbladder bed treating. The core group included 37 patients, who had hemostasis of the
gallbladder bed using the Hemosponge Powder agent. The results of the surgery were
assessed by the severity of complications, nature of the discharge and laboratory data.
Results. Application of Hemosponge Powder during laparoscopic cholecystectomy
demonstrated a number of advantages before the use of high-frequency coagulation, in the
form of a high degree adhesion of Hemosponge Powder to the gallbladder bed, instant
hemorrhage control, complete absence of tissue damage, as well as exclusion of injuries of
deep vessels and bile ducts.
Conclusion. The indicated advantages of Hemosponge Powder allowed to reduce the
number of intraoperative complications and avoid the development of postoperative
complications.
