Abstract

The accumulation of knowledge about the genetic nature of CP, the study of
the contributions of specific combinations of alleles to susceptibility to the disease, will be
invaluable in developing new methods of diagnosis and prediction, in creating a
comprehensive treatment and prevention program taking into account genetic
characteristics. The absence of the influence of the unfavorable genotype G/ A
polymorphism rs1800629 of the TNF-? gene on the risk of developing mild CP involves
further studies to analyze the interaction of several genes (gene networks), whose products
control the general metabolic pathways of cytokines. In interaction with other cytokine
or chemokine genes, the effect of the TNF-? gene on the formation and progression of CP
can be more significant due to their additive interaction.
