Improved Heat Exchanger Performance Using Magnetic Nanofluid Technology

Abstract

The study included building an experimental structure for studying
the heat transfer through a DPHE using a nanofluid and by directing the
different magnetic field (0.1, 0.15, 0.2) Tesla. Iron oxide nanoparticle mixed
with engine oil was used in mixing ratios ( ? = 0.5, 0.1, and 0.3)% by volume
and changing the Reynolds number of nanofluid side from (32 to 102). While
for the cold side, water was used as a fluid for cooling, and the Reynolds
number was constant (2354). The results indicated that the heat transfer rate
and the hi increase along with the heat exchanger of different values of the
concentration ratios. the maximum enhancement of Nusselt number was
10.4% compering with base fluid without magnetic intensity and it imprvment
about 14.1%at volume fruction 0.3% and B=0.2 Tesla.
