Use Of Genetic-Statistical Methods In Creation Ofcotton Varieties
Abstract
Research objective: on the basis of genetic-statistical methods to work out a method
for creating promising cotton varieties with high homogeneity and adaptability to
environmental conditions.
Material and methods.5 families of cotton line L-93 belonging to the species G.
hirsutum L. and their hybrids obtained by diallelic crossing were used as the initial material
for the research. Diallelic crossing was carried out according to B. Griffing's method I.Sowing
was carried out according to the triple scheme 60x30-1 in the Tashkent region. Geneticstatistical analyzes were carried out using the MS Excel and according to B.A. Dospekhov.
Results.The conducted diallelic analysis showed that the single boll weight of raw
cotton was controlled by genes having dominant and epistatic effects, where SCA variances
prevailed over GCA. Besides, during the research we established cotton families with a high
combinational ability by the single boll weight of raw cotton character in the system of diallel
crossing.The study of cotton families differed not only in terms of GCA, but also had
significantly different SCA. It indicates that during selection, these families can be used in
both synthetic and heterotic breeding.
Conclusion.Summarizing the research results, based on the study of hybrids, we may
say that we managed to determine and analyze genetic sources with a high general and
specific combining ability of the single boll weight of raw cotton. Thus,on the basis of it, we
createda new cotton variety “TashSAU-100”, presented to the National Measurement
Assurance System.
