Specific Absorption Rate Simulation Analysis On Human Head Using Planar Inverted FAntenna For Mobile Application

Abstract

The aim of this paper is to design and analyze specific absorption rate on
human head using Planar Inverted F-Antenna (PIFA). The simulation was conducted
using Computer Simulation Technology (CST) Microwave software. PIFA antenna is
designed for mobile application at 1.8 GHz. PIFA is chosen to observe the safety standard
of Specific Absorption Rate (SAR) as it is widely used in the mobile phone design. There
are three variables that have been considered in the analysis which include the distance
from antenna to human head (0 mm to 50 mm), inclination angles (0 degree to 90 degree)
andorientation of antenna (horizontal & vertical). CST simulation software isused for
simulation of SAR analysis
bySAMphantomheadmodel.Theresultsobtainedhasshownthatallthreevariables have an
effectonthe SAR levels. It is found that a safe distance between mobile phone and head
phantom and at the same time has a goodantenna
performancewasfoundtobebetween40mmto50mmfor both 1g W/kg and 10g W/kg
tissue.Meanwhileforanglesinclination,50to70degree
hasasafeSARlevel.Athorizontalandverticalorientation,itisshownthatSARlevelisbelowthesa
fe level at 50 mm to 60 mm distance between PIFA and SAMphantom
