INVESTIGATING SUCCESSIVE INTERFERENCE CANCELLATION CONJUNCTION WITH MMSE WITHIN MIMO RELAY NETWORK

Abstract

In this paper, we study successive interference cancellation (SIC) in conjunction with minimum mean-squared
error (MMSE) algorithms for a multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) relay network and compare their performance in
terms of bit-error-rate (BER). In this context, signal processing techniques play a fundamental role, and optimality within
a given relay architecture can be achieved under several design criteria. Also, for this paper, we extend recent optimal
minimum-mean-square-error (MMSE) receiver designs of relay networks to the corresponding multiple-input multipleoutput (MIMO) scenarios, whereby the source, relays and destination comprise multiple antennas. Therefore, we
investigated its performance with and without the use of sequential interference cancellation (SIC) in the receiver at
various values from the SNR in the relay. These results indicate that the system performance can be significantly
improved using the SIC technique
