Empirical Analysis of COVID 19 using OLS Model – Have the countries been successful in containing the spread - A comparative Study

Abstract

— Covid ailment 2019 (COVID 19) is perceived as one of the significant outbreak as of late given
the spread around the world. The spread has infected over 200 countries. Many nations have been successful
in containing the spread of the disease through various control measures. An attempt has been made to
elucidate and analyse the spread and compare the trend. The paper also places its focus on analysing the data
using OLS time series model using GRETL. The results show an upward trend in the recovery rate while the
spread accelerates in many countries. As the trajectory of COVID-19 still remains a mystery, it provides an
immense opportunity to study and research. The fear of spread across many nations with low health care
facilities like South Asian, South American and African region is understandable. However, the research
indicates that some of the nations in these regions have been very effective in controlling the spread.
