Abstract

The emerging advanced wireless communication technology desires innovative multiband antennas. In this scenario, a 4-iteration Rectangular slotted Sierpinski Fractal antenna with a Defective Ground and  extended Complementary Split Ring Resonator structure is being introduced in this Paper. The intention in  etching rectangular slots on the  general SPK Fractal patch  brings the novelty in this work and increases the  percentage of miniaturization of the proposed antenna from 68.36% to 72%.  At the beginning a 4-iteration rectangular slotted SPK triangular patch of dimension of 102 mm x 90 mm with Full ground is designed on FR4-epoxy substrate material with  4.4 dielectric constant and height of the substrate  is chosen as 1.6 mm.. In view of performance enhancement  and increasing number of bands, only the ground plane of the above said antenna is modified by employing  the partial ground technique with an extended version of Complementary Split Ring Resonator structure  as a final proposed optimized antenna . The optimized design is selected by comparing the simulation results of four different structures named as  SPK Full ground antenna, Design A (SPK antenna with DGS), Design B ( SPK antenna with DGS & CSRR) and Design C ( proposed SPK antenna with DGS, CSRR & line slots) . The simulation results of all the four antennas are evaluated by using ANSYS HFSS Software for frequency range 0.1-10 GHz with the same FR4- epoxy substrate material. Also  in this work, fabrication of both the 4-iteration SPK  full ground antenna and the proposed 4-iteration DGS with Extended CSRR antenna  are carried out and the comparison  of measured results ensures that SPK Full ground antenna is suitable for 3 band(S,C and X) applications  with considerable return loss, VSWR and gain values but the proposed antenna  suitable for 4 band (L,S,C and X ) applications with good radiation characteristics .
