Sankardeva, In The Context Of Bishnuprasad Rabha's Works And Literature

Abstract

Purpose: Bishnuprsad Rabha is one of the few personalities, whom can be frankly considered as a social artist by the social life of Assam. All the cognizant people, related to the society, literatute and culture of Assam knows how important and relevant Bishnuprasad Rabha is for the Assamese community. His revolutionary works played a leadership role in the socio-economic-cultural and political growth and in the intellectual development of the 19th century Assam. He was such a guardian like Sankardeva, Lakshminath Bezboruah and Jyotiprasad Agarwala for the assamese society. After becoming a tribal man, he had fought as a fighter of the greater Assamese nation for it's independence, culture and for their own rights, rather than his tribal identity. He had organized the people of Assam through his revolutionary spirit. Being a spokesperson of the masses, he sought his heart out against the government. In fact, apart from literature, he had dedicated his life towards the Assamese civilization-culture as a foreman and as a social revolutionist parallely. Bishnurabha has a unique and different position as a reformer of the assamese culture. Sankardeva, Lakshminath Bezboruah, Jyotiorasad Agarwala and Bishnuprasad Rabha are the four main helmsmen of Assamese culture and civilization. Their practices, literary works and social life established the assamese community and helped to have the today's civilized Assam. His thinking is influenced by many venerable persons of the world like Carl Marx, Lenin, Stalin, and Mao tse- Tung along with Sankardeva, Lakshminath Bezboruah, Jyotiprasad Agarwala etc. from Assam. Literally, he was dignified by the activities and ideals of previous social revolutionists, and cultural activists. And that is why he was inspired to work as a socio-cultural revolutionist. Sankardeva was a pioneer and a major figure in the field of culture and social revolution. The communist ideas which was expansed by Bishnurabha had Sankardeva as it's bona fied  foundation in the context of Assam. As a true assamese youth of the greater Assam, he had worked throughout his life like a general for the establishment of assamese society and culture. In this discussion, how did Bishnurabha presented Sankardeva in his works and literature, how he accepted Sankardeva as a guardian in his socio-cultural activism, will be discussed. Methodology: It is described through descriptive, analytical and comparative methods. Main Findings: Bishnuranha’s thinking is influenced by many venerable persons of the world like Carl Marx, Lenin, Stalin, and Mao tse- Tung along with Sankardeva, Lakshminath Bezboruah, Jyotiprasad Agarwala etc from Assam. He presented Sankardeva and his culture in many of his songs, plays, articles. He strived to portray Sankardeva as an ascetic and tried to promote him in his songs so that the ideologies of Sankardeva and the socio-cultural infrastructure made by him can be expanse all over the world.
