Flexible Antenna Design for RFID Applications Using Paper Substrate
Abstract
The use of radio frequency identification (RFID) systems has considerably increased in logistics, library system, real time location systems and access control. Radio Frequency identification is the popular wireless induction system. Each RFID tag in an the system is equips a unique ID (UID) which help to shorten the identification time for individual object recognition. RFID technologies provide an automatic means of delivering product data without direct contact between the RFID label, tag or transponder and the reader device. During the last decade we have witnessed a great development concerning flexible antennas in order to facilitate their integration in tags, clothing and medical equipments. The antenna is printed on a kind of flexible substrate “photo paper”, to offer the advantage of low-cost, wide availability and flexibility for the required applications. The proposed design has an overall size of 34 by 16mm with return loss below -20dB between 1.266GHz to 1.328GHz along with a peak gain of -7.671dBi, and overall antenna efficiency of 99.81%. The antenna design and simulation demonstrated the high flexibility which is suitable for RFID applications.
