Design and Simulation of Vivaldi Antenna for See-Through-Wall (STW) and Recue Applications
Abstract
Vivaldi antenna is a UWB (Ultra-Wide Band) antenna proposed for providing high-gain with a single array tapered slot Vivaldi antenna element designed, fabricated and validated. Power gain is increased by multiple combination of this array as the feed for antenna, so that frequency also can be increased. By Theoretical mathematical design this antenna has a very wide frequency band. Moreover its gain remains constant with variations in frequency. But practically the transition from micro strip to slot line in this design restricts the further extension of impedance bandwidth. To overcome this limiting factor a minor changes in the structure of the antenna is made to achieve the required bandwidth. The Simulation and fabrication of tapered slot Vivaldi antenna is delivered in this paper by using CST (Computer Simulation Technology) Microwave studio software and fabricated using FR$ material. Basic antenna parameters like directivity, gain, radiation pattern has been performed for this single antenna element is test the rationality of simulation and verify the desirability of the antenna for UWB systems for see through wall applications. The Vivaldi antenna design with certain variations in the structure aids in attainment of more fractional bandwidth and gain.
