Abstract

: Construction Sector has been playing a major role in the global economy now-a-days. Due to the production of cement which results in heavy production of carbon dioxide leading to global warming. After the consumption of water, cement plays the immediate role in usage around the globe. Ordinary Portland cement and Pozzolona Portland cements are used as binders in concrete mixes. The production of cement not only leads to global pollution but also leads to decrease in natural resources. In compensation for the problems raising due to the production of cement, environmental friendly products like geopolymers were being proposed for the replacement of cement. This study mainly concentrates on study of hardened properties of geo polymer concrete using Fly Ash and Metakaolin as binder content. Binders were mixed in proportions ranging from 0% to 100% in intervals of 20%. Sodium Hydroxide with 10M & 12M and Sodium Silicate Solutions were used as alkaline solutions with ratio 1:2, 1:2.5& 1:3.Mechanical properties of GPC were studied and compared with conventional concrete. From the above test results optimum mixture was determined.
