PbO Recovery from Spent Batteries of Pb Acid

Abstract

At the current work, a hydrometallurgy developed process of recycling was utilized for obtaining Pb oxides and Pb carbonate (PbCO3). Such designed process was contained 4 chief steps.  Such steps might know as de-sulfurization, leaching, precipitation and calcination (decomposition as thermal), respectively. The 1st step was utilized for paste modification to yield (PbCO3).  It was establish to be not ample PbCO3 production.  It comprises several other Pb components.  The 2nd step was application to produce   Pb acetate Pb(C2H3O2)2 from 1st step obtained cake; such step is identified as leaching.    Process of leaching was occured utilizing mixture solution of acetic acid CH3COOH and H2O2.  Pb(C2H3O2)2  at 3rd step was changed to PbCO3 because of chemical reaction with sodium carbonate (Na2CO3).  PbCO3 as whole at the final step was changed to PbO through decomposition as thermal at 370 oC.  Throughout experiments of leaching the acid concentration effects on such process were evaluated. Pb % was continuously increased along concentration of acid. The formed phases after desulfurization, leaching and calcinations were explored where the chief phase is PbO.
