Abstract

The designed Microstrip Patch Antenna (MPA) is a monopole antenna and it can be used for  Worldwide Interoperability for Microwave Access (WiMAX) application at 2.5GHz/3.5GHz/5.5GHz. The structure of patch is  a rectangular ring with an inverted arrow. The technique of Defected Ground Structure(DGS) is implemented. A slot of rectangular shape is etched on the ground plane. The antenna resonates at three frequencies of 2.56, 3.54, and 5.63 GHz. The voltage standing-wave ratio(VSWR) achieved is closer to one,  good impedance matching and better radiation patterns  are obtained. The size of the antenna is small.  The substrate used is FR4.
