Mrittik Mobile Software cum Computer Vision based Techniques: Vulnerability Analysis for Soil
Abstract
Computer models (GIS software and Arc/info) are being greatly adopted to generate the soil database to amplify the efficiency and effectiveness on decision making. The attribute data required for the computer model in the current study include texture, slope, drainage density, geomorphology, soil pH, electric conductivity, soil nutrients etc. Soil pH and soil type were ascertained using handy Mrittik mobile software. The attribute data has been linked with the spatial data. Thus the soil model has been created by linking the spatial data with non-spatial data. All the necessary information and thematic maps have been generated using the ‘computer-based-soil model’. Computer based appliances used for the current study include GPS. In the first phase of the research, the heterogeneity of natural system was ascertained under the assessment of slope using Global positioning system (GPS). In the second phase, the emerging technology of Geographical Information System (GIS) was used as a fundamental tool to collect, store and retrieve the spatial data and Satty’s Analytical Hierarchical Process (SAHP) based multi-criteria decision-making approach (Rank and Weightage method) was applied for identifying the level vulnerability of soil erosion
