Performance Analysis of R32/R600a with Mineral Oil as the Lubricant

Abstract

-In the present study, binary mixtures of R32/R600a (90%/10% and 80%/20%) with mineral oil as the lubricant were investigated theoretically, and the performance at various evaporator and condenser temperatures is compared with the R134a. The properties of the chosen refrigerants are compared within the operating temperature range. For performance comparison work done, refrigeration effect, compressor exit temperature, and COP (coefficient of performance) were considered. Results show that the COP of R32/R600a (80%/20%) almost matches R134a and is 1.27 to 4.36% higher than R134a for R32/R600a (90%/10%). The temperature of the compressor discharge of the chosen refrigerants is lesser than corresponding critical temperatures, and there are no problems while rejecting heat in the condenser. R32/R600a mixtures have a lower global warming index than R134a and can be considered a surrogate for R134a in refrigeration systems.
