Robust 3dlocalizationusing Cubical Geometryin Wireless Sensor Networks

Abstract

Localization is termed as finding the location of thetarget node in any topographical region, since it is an important issue as the collected information are tightly coupled with thelocation information. This paper presents a novel 3D Localizationalgorithm,  which  identifies  the  location  in  a  3D  environment  ina  robust  manner,  where  both  the  beacons  and  the  non-beaconnodes  are  assumed  as  static, which helps for processing any imformation.  The  location  of  the  unknown  nodecan  be  found  using  the  beacon  nodes  which  has  the  location  onits  own.  The 3D ROLOC algorithm uses a cubical geometricalfigure which is a simple and effective method to build an efficientlocalization area of unknown node. The cubical figure is chosenin order to reduce the dimension of measurement matrix and thetime required for the overall computation process.Simulation results show that 3D ROLOC algorithm provides on average about 15% less localization error than 3D Centroid algorithm and about 8% less localization error than 3D DV-Hop algorithms.
