Voltage Collapse Estimation Using Singular Value Decomposition in an Integrated Power System
Abstract
In Power flow Analysis Static Synchronous Compensator (STATCOM) is usually modeled as a PV or PQ bus subjected to its application. Phase control and Pulse width modulation (PWM) control techniques of STATCOM are addressed in this paper by presenting augmented bus types. The Newton-Raphson (NR) formation has exactly the same form even with the limit enforcement, and dimension of Jacobian matrix increases by one. STATCOM is precisely modeled to estimate the real power losses and reactive power output by considering steady state losses. The Singular Value Decomposition (SVD) based approach is used to analyze voltage stability of the power system. The impact of STATCOM on voltage collapse is studied with the help of the IEEE 30-bus system.
