Evaluation of Job Satisfaction Level between Public and Private Sector Banks
Abstract
Today’s trend will forever be remembered in the midst of other things for the changes which have been introduced in Indian Banking and Financial system. The opportunity of the opening of Indian economy during this century holds the method of functioning of the banking industry. Banking industry has made extraordinary development for both public and private sector banks.
The term job satisfaction has been conceptualised in many ways. Job satisfaction focal point on all the feelings that an individual has about his/her job. It has been assumed by organisational behaviour research that individuals who express high satisfaction in their jobs are likely to be more productive, have higher involvement and are less likely to resign than employees with less satisfaction. The present research paper is a comparative study of the job satisfaction of women employees in private sector and public sector banks specifically in the banking sector of the main city named Sonepat (SNP) and Bilaspur (BSP). A structured questionnaire survey was conducted. The sample consisted of 162 total banks from Bilaspur and 150 banks from Sonepat. In this study Mann Witney test statistical tools has been used to study the differences in employee job satisfaction. Results indicated that the women employees of the public and private banks were significantly different from each other. The findings of the study highlight important satisfiers and dissatisfiers present in the job and suggest both the banks to take performance initiatives in the areas where employees have reported reduced satisfaction.
