Abstract

One of the core components for safe, reliable and efficient operation of electric vehicles is battery management system (BMS). However, it is technically challenging, in particular, for precise and accurate battery modeling, robust state estimation, fault diagnosis and prediction of power batteries exposed to complex operation conditions. In this research, we aim to advance the BMS in terms of high precision and robust management. Determining the suitable battery arrangement for various battery performance is essential since it affects the electric vehicle's performance and battery lifespan. Numerous aspects affect battery mechanisms, the most significant of which is the unbalancing of cells. The particular cell voltages will change over time without the adjusting device, and the power of the battery pack will decrease rapidly. This can result in battery system failure. Cell balance thus plays a crucial role in maintaining battery life. Various cell balancing methodologies are discussed in this article with their advantages and disadvantages for intelligent electric vehicles.
