Abstract

Energy consumption in cloud computing is a big challenge for cloud service providers as it cost a high out of the total expenditures that occurred in the system. Energy consumption can be managed by using the latest IT infrastructure and effective algorithms to decrease the requirement of no of servers without compromising the performance and violating the service level agreement. Different algorithms are proposed by the researchers in the recent past with statistics of power consumption in their algorithms based on different parameters. The algorithms are mostly based on VM consolidation, VM Placement, VM Migration. Again the researchers used parameters like bandwidth, throughput, and server load, file types available in the servers, network fluctuation, congestion, hibernation of server, and network latency. The researchers have developed many algorithms by considering the different parameters and left no of research direction grayed for further research. The gray area of the algorithms is a challenge for them and the new researchers. The objective of this paper is to identify the new research area which will help the new researchers to enhance the existing algorithms and develop any new algorithms.
