Wireless Sensor Network and IoT-Based Systems for Healthcare Application
Abstract
Average life span has dramatically improved over the past few decades. However, because of mobility issues, signs of dementia or other health conditions, elderly people living on their own also require assistance. An autonomous support device can be helpful in such situations. The study presents an information system that is based on the Internet of Things (IoT). Since before the analysis of connected works revealed a lack of analytical methods to the development procedure, it is important to implement a Design Methodology (DM) approaching the design goal from the perspectives of shareholders, reducing establishments and possible customers. The three-axial touch screen and navigation system, and the method of decision trees refer to the solution implemented. Such architecture allows a monitored individual to be accurately located within room area moreover it distinguishes falls and lying behaviours. The framework identifies current situations as normal, questionable or unsafe depending on the activities detected, and is used to warn healthcare workers of potential problems. The real-life situations confirmed the proposed solution's elevated robustness. In addition, all stakeholders and prospective users were pleased by the test results and assured more collaboration with the assignment.
