Abstract

The most important phase in management and planning of agriculture  is yield forecasting of a crop, which will be helpful in sustainability of ecosystem, food trade in international market and supply of food in domestic market. In world India is the second largest populated country with a very limited land for cultivation of crops using which government has to provide  food to all the people sufficiently to do this an efficient crop yield forecasting model is needed .It is a known fact that crop yield mostly depends on different parameters like area cultivated, temperature, rainfall , irrigation facilities ,types of seeds used , fertilization, type of soil, diseases occurred during crop cultivation . A study is conducted for the forecasting of turmeric yield and the similar crops for which parameters considered are area cultivated, temperature and rainfall  in Telangana , India.a new model  named as Hybrid neuro fuzzy system is designed and tested for turmeric crop  using the combination of artificial neural networks and fuzzy logic rule set which gives good results compared to spatial and temporal neural network models .
