A Study on Educational Development in Malaysian Context
Abstract
The Malaysian method underlies an important pedagogical shift from a conventional teaching and learning approach focused on teachers according to its Vision 2020. The government in Malaysia requires these reforms in the area of schooling and learning to be introduced in Malaysian secondary schools and their higher education system. But the Malaysian research revealed the conceptually vague approach to schooling and study in Malaysian schools and third-party institutions. The incorporation of west ideas, including student learning styles, seemed to build conflicts between teachers and students from Malaysia. In addition, previous research in Malaysia found that many cultures have different perceptions and viewpoints that affect education strongly. Therefore it is important, instead of presuming that Western philosophies are useful and desirable in any sense, to recognise and construct suitable pedagogies for specific educational practises.
The goal of this thesis is to examine educational progress in the Malaysian context. This paper took schooling before freedom and independence into account. This review of revisions to the curricula shows that schooling is undergoing change in Malaysia. Malaysia has taken the stance that student-centered approaches in teaching at all levels of schooling, colleges and higher education should be introduced.
