Abstract

Abu Amood oilfield is one of Iraqi oil fields located in the northwestern part of Dhi Qar Governorate. The field contains five wells and each the well produces from the four formations. The aim of this work is to find the best completion of the wells produced from formations (Mauddud, Nahr Umr, Zubair and Ratawi) to find the maximum production rates.

PIPESIM software was used to build the well configuration. Building fluid model and PVT properties calibration (PVT data matching). Building inflow performance relationship (IPR). Vertical lift correlation matching in order to choose the best correction. The best correlations obtained were Govier, Aziz and Forgarasi for Mauddua formation, while Gary original for the Nahr Umr formation, while Beggs and Brill (Tulsa) for the Zubair formation and Duns and Ros (Baker Jardine) for the Ratawi formation. Design the completion of the wells and choose a range of the completion types. Single formation completion where each well is produced from one formation only and formation produced through the tubing. Connect the wells to the separator through junctions. The system was analyzed depending on the tubing size (OD) of (2 8/7) inch, separator pressure of (400 psi) and critical flow through maximum open choke.

The results showed if we wanted to use only the tubing for production, the best completion is the completion in which wells are produced from same formation only such as completion(1), completion(2), completion(3) and completion(4).
