Problems And Prospects Of The Youth And The Issue Of Youth Empowerment In The Tea Garden Areas Of Assam

Abstract

 Youth are the backbone of a country. They have the power to transform a nation. The concept of youth empowerment is quite relevant in the context of present scenario. Tea plantation is an intensive agro-based industry of Assam. Although production and cultivation of tea in Assam is increasing substantially over a period time, the condition of tea garden laborer including the youth is not improving. They have never received proper attention in the developmental process. The youth in the tea garden areas face severe problems in every field. They are always exploited in various platforms. Here an attempt is be made to look into the problems and prospects of the youth in the tea garden areas of Assam and to find some means and ways to empower them. Both primary and secondary data have been used in the study. The study after considering all the issues reveals that youth empowerment is totally necessary in the tea garden areas of Assam.
