A Study On Numerical Model Of Atmospheric Pollutants With Variable Wind Velocity And Eddy-Diffusivity
Abstract
In this paper, a two-dimensional time-dependent numerical model of atmospheric pollutants for an area source of steady emission with variable wind velocity and eddy-diffusivity is presented to simulate the dispersion processes of gaseous inert air pollutants in an urban area. The simplest area source model is the so-called box model, in which the pollutants are assumed to be completely mixed within a single box, covering the city and extends upward to the mixing height. Ragland (1973) developed a multiple box model for dispersion of air pollutants from an area source. Hameed (1975), discussed modeling of urban air pollution. Shieh (1977) developed a generalized urban air pollution model and applied to the study of SO2 distribution. Lebedeff and Hameed studied atmospheric transport over area sources by an integral method. Tennekes has attempted through the box model to answer the pollution control during stagnation Episode.
