Comparative analysis of PV based Cascaded Buck Boost converter for water pump applications

Abstract

Basic Buck and boost converter converts a DC voltage to a lower/higher DC voltage; Cuk converter adds additional benefits such as switching losses, reduced ripple currents in both input and output circuits through cascaded buck and boost operations. Here, water pump is the primary load and battery is the secondary load, then the secondary load satisfies the primary load by providing constant power. The main aim of this project is to satisfy the various secondary loads by implementing the automatic buck and boost operation by sensing the PV source. The new approach has proven accuracy, robustness and effectiveness of efficient energy utilization for standalone PV system by knowing the various facts & topologies about converters, batteries etc.., and PV panel is used as a source and MPPT is used to obtain maximum power from PV panels by adjusting auto duty cycle.
